Frequently
asked questions

Here is everything you need to know about fees, NDIS coverage, rebates and payment plans.

Do I need to be diagnosed as Neurodivergent or be LGBTQIA+ to access your services?

No! If you think our services may be helpful to you,  you're welcome to reach out.

If you think you may be neurodivergent, we can conduct screening interviews to help you assess whether diagnosis might be helpful for you (not everyone wants or needs an official diagnosis).

Do you provide assessment or diagnosis?

ADHD and Autism must be diagnosed by a paediatrician, psychologist or psychiatrist. We are happy to assist you in finding professionals who can provide this.

As a social worker, Shelley is able to conduct assessments that may contribute to your diagnosis or help you better understand your brain.

What is the difference between seeing a social worker and seeing a psychologist?

There is lots of overlap between the work that psychologists and social workers do and both are great options to provide you with therapy.

However, as a general rule, social workers tend to focus on a more holistic approach, considering the person within their environment and fostering a therapeutic relationship based on collaboration rather than the therapist being centred as an expert.

Social workers can conduct assessments but can not provide a diagnosis. To receive a diagnosis you must see a psychologist, psychiatrist or a paediatrician.

Do you offer reduced fees for financial hardship?

We have a small number of low-cost places available for those who qualify. Check out our pricing page.

We are also happy to arrange a payment plan that suits your needs or assist you in finding other services that are affordable to you.

Group therapy is another more cost-effective option.
